Hereford United 4
North Birmingham College 3
A GOAL from Chris Mortlock in extra time at Hereford Leisure centre ensured United's progress to the second round of the Pace College Cup.
But it was a hard battle for the young Bulls who saw a three-goal half-time lead overturned before gaining their success.
Andrew Williams crossed for Mortlock to put Hereford ahead and Mortlock then returned the favour for Williams to make it two.
When skipper Paul Brown added the third from the penalty spot, Hereford seemed to be cruising but North Birmingham made good use of the windy conditions to level in the second period.
Mortlock's added time winner, however, ensured United a tie with Worcester City in the second round.
Sutton Coldfield Town 3 Hereford United 1
Hereford were unable to hold on to a first-half lead and went down to third-placed Sutton in the Midland Floodlit Youth League Premier Division.
Hereford took the lead when Simon Gwilliam raced on to a through ball from Paul Collins and pushed the ball past the goalkeeper. Andrew Williams beat a defender to the ball to knock it into the net.
Sutton levelled before the break but Hereford had a couple of chances to restore their lead, the best coming when a Collins free-kick flashed just the wrong side of the upright.
The home side went in front midway through the second period and then, with Hereford pushing up in search of an equaliser, added a third five minutes from the end.
