LAST season's beaten finalists Ewyas Harold progressed to the next stage of the HFL Strongbow Senior Cup with a comfortable 3-1 win over visiting Ross United Services.
Harold never really looked back after taking the lead in the first minute when Ryan Tabb challenged Services goalkeeper to a Steve Lamb cross and Matthew Ingram was on hand to fire the ball home from 15 yards.
The villagers extended their lead shortly afterwards when Simon Macklin shielded the ball well and laid a pass into the path of Peter Lamb who chipped home.
James then made two fine saves from Peter Lamb efforts before Ingram scored his second after Steve Lamb had beaten the Services offside trap.
Steve Gane pulled a goal back for Ross just before the break but it was Harold who came closest to extending their lead in the second period when Ingram hit the bar with a header from a Rob Cooper-Tomkins free-kick.
Weston and Fownhope remained deadlocked at 2-2 after 120 minutes and then it was down to Weston goalkeeper Byron Hartley to produce the heroics as his side went through 3-2 on penalties.
Hartley's brother Ryan had profited from a mix-up in the Fownhope defence to open the scoring in the second minute but Steve Winmill hit a post for the visitors before tucking in the equaliser before the interval.
Weston regained the lead with a looping header from Derek Roberts but Winmill levelled from the spot with a twice-taken penalty a minute from time.
Neither side was able to make the breakthrough in added time and so it was down to Byron Hartley to demonstrate his talents, saving three out of five of the Fownhope penalties.
Chris Davies, Paul Wooding and Roberts scored the decisive spot-kicks for Weston.
A disputed penalty two minutes from time secured Sutton United's 2-1 win over visiting Westfields.
Sutton had much the better of the early play but wasted a handful of good chances before a fine header from Matt Goddard put them in front.
The young Westfields side then fought back strongly and went in level at the interval after grabbing an equaliser two minutes before the break.
Westfields continued to hold sway at the start of the second period without creating many clear cut chances and it was rough justice when Nigel Bartlett converted the spot-kick to put them out after a push in the penalty area.
Hinton pulled away after a scoreless first half to register a 3-0 success at Leominster.
The visitors had the better of the first period but were lucky not to fall behind at the beginning of the second when goalkeeper Keegan Vallely produced a brilliant triple save to prevent Leominster from taking the lead.
Shortly afterwards, Shaun Glover raced on to a defence-splitting pass from Ben Porter and rounded the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 and then James Anderson extended the lead with a shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the area.
In stoppage time, Ian Morris rounded off the victory when he lobbed the goalkeeper from a narrow angle after being out through by Damian Rogers.
Lads Club achieved an excellent fightback to come through to win 3-1 after falling a goal behind after just five minutes at Woofferton.
John Buchanan then fired the city club level and then grabbed a second before Ric Real clinched the win with the third.
Although Woofferton pressed strongly, debutant Joel Gummery gave an outstanding display in the visitors' defence to keep them at bay.
