CRICKET CLUB - The AGM of the Almeley Cricket Club will take place on Tuesday, November 18, at 8pm at the Bells Inn, Almeley. All members and Vice Presidents are asked to attend. Fund raising for the club will continue throughout the winter months. Special thanks are due to all those who continue to support the 100 club. Recent winners are Mrs Brown £25; Mr Paul Lewis £15; Mr David Games £10; Mr Malcolm Hillier £25; Mr A Stokes £15 and Ms Julie Hughes £10.
WHIST CLUB - The latest meeting of the Almeley Whist Club in the village hall was on Tuesday, November 4. Organisers Allan and Sandra Payne, were delighted with the good turnout of players as the proceeds from the evening were donated to the Air Ambulance Service. MC for the evening Mr Rick Harris, presented prizes to Mrs M Fenton (prize of a bottle of whisky for having the highest score in the room), Mrs A Preece, Mrs M Gates, Mrs S Turner, Miss M Kerrigan, Mrs G Thomas Mrs E Harding, Mr B Thomas and Mr R Kerrigan. There will be another whist drive on Tuesday, November 17, at 7.45pm, when once again the player achieving the highest score will receive a bottle of whisky. Proceeds will be for the Air Ambulance. Anyone who has not yet played at the Almeley Whist Club, should come along for a happy social evening, enjoy delicious refreshments and take the opportunity to try to win a very good prize.
COMMUNITY THEATRE - The Almeley Community Theatre (ACT) which is a newly formed drama group, gave their first performance in the village hall on October 13, when they staged three sketches. These were 'Crossed Lines' by John Tittley, 'Very Lucky' by Carey Glyn-Jones and 'The Lift Attendant', which was written by all the members of ACT. Anyone who would like to become involved with this very interesting and rewarding activity, either acting or working back-stage, should contact Rupert Button 01554 327199.
