OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - Following the very successful shoebox collection in 2002, the scheme will be in operation again this year. Leaflets listing the most suitable items to include in the boxes are available at the church. The parcels will be collected at the Joy Service at Eardisley Church on Sunday, December 7, when the Rev Jen Pollock will thank everyone involved and offer prayers for the children of the world.
PIES, PUNCH AND PROMISES - On Friday, November 21 at 7.30pm, there will be an evening of Pies, Punch and Promises, when Mr Martyn Jones will act as Auctioneer. Tickets, price £5 are available from the Eardisley Post Office and from Mrs Jean Rees 01544 327256.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE - The AGM of the Eardisley WI, will take place on Thursday, November 13, in the Curzon Herrick Hall. This will be followed by a talk on the Mersey Estuary given by Mr David Hodgson. The competition is for the longest list of nautical phrases in everyday life.
MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING - Mrs Josephine Burgoyne would like to thank everyone who attended the coffee morning held at her home in Millstream Gardens, when £207 was raised. This successful event was one of the five in the Kington District, which altogether raised £1,900.
SCHOOL - Mrs Michelle Chapman, headteacher at Eardisley Church of England School, has announced that the funds necessary to build the school's new classroom, have been raised. It is hoped that the building will be completed in March 2004. She would like to thank all those who have supported this project over the past eight months. A Christmas Coffee Morning is planned to take place at the school on November 21. On that evening a Race Evening will be held at he Sun Inn, Winforton. Also, at the end of November there will be a gardeners' question time at the school.
GROUP PARISH COUNCIL - The next meeting of the council will be held on Monday, November 17, at 7.30pm, in Whitney hall. Everyone is welcome to attend. Anyone with a matter to discuss may approach a councillor or the clerk prior to the meeting.
