PUB TALK - When Old Kington Neighbourhood Watch holds a cheese and wine evening at St Mary's parish house on November 28 there will also be a short talk on Kington's pubs by Ken Reeves.

SPONSORED WALK - A sponsored walk organised by the Kington branch of Save the Children raised the magnificent total of £1,517, in addition to which £520 has come via the local charity shop.

CONTAINERS - Winter containers will be the subject when Simon Thomas visits the Masonic Hall in Headbrook on November 20, for a meeting of Kington Horticultural Society.

COFFEE MORNING - A total of £1,900 was raised when five Macmillan coffee mornings were held by the cancer charity's Kington and district committee. These were hosted at Eardisley, Almeley and Walton, as well as in Kington itself.

NOBLE SENTIMENTS - Practical demonstrations will be provided by Dr Duncan Noble when he gives an illustrated talk to members of Kington History Society on Friday, November 21. His subject: Dueling - Death before Dishonour!

REUNION PLAN - There are plans to hold a reunion for staff who worked at Kington Cottage Hospital and anyone interested in joining the party should contact Lynda Gough or Helen Yeomans on 232500. They are trying to track down ex-members of staff at the hospital, which opened in 1888 and closed its doors this year.

JUMBLE SALE - A jumble sale in aid of Kinnerton village hall, which holds its annual meeting on Thursday, November 20, raised £102. A jumble sale for Kinnerton church funds is planned in Kington market hall on November 29.
