CENTRAL Dojo martial arts instructor Tom Beardsley has found a way for his young students to carry out chores, read more books, adopt healthier eating styles - and like it.
He has introduced a programme of six tasks in his school to develop martial arts philosophy and encourage better habits.
"One of the six tasks is about teamwork and it requires children to record 50 home chores", said Beardsley. "And, believe it or not, I'm having kids who complete 50 chores in a week. They're even asking for more six-tasks journals to do more chores."
Each of the tasks has a different theme and the programme is based on disciplined approach to aid progress in martial arts.
