TWO new cases of Legionnaires Disease have been confirmed today (Wednesday) as efforts continue to try and track down the source of an outbreak in the city.

The newly-diagnosed cases, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s, brings the total to 10.

Dr Mike Deakin, Herefordshire's Director of Public Health, said: ''We had anticipated that more cases would come to light - partly because of our extensive testing of patients and partly because of the incubation period for the disease.

The fact that new case have been confirmed does not mean that the source of the infection has not already been eradicated. However, environmental health officers are continuing their testing process on premises around Hereford.''

People suffering flu-like symptoms should consult their own GP or phone a temporary hotline on 01785 231011.
