BOSBURY won their last home league game of the season by 128 runs on Saturday to keep their hopes of winning the Hereford and District League Division One title well and truly alive.

BOSBURY v LADS CLUB

Put into bat by Lads Club, opener Gary Fletcher got the Bosbury innings off to a flying start with 12 runs off the first over, whilst partner Merv Carless settled in to consolidate the partnership as they proceeded to 33 without loss after 10 overs.

Fletcher was then bowled by Oliver for 17, bringing Luke Ledbury to the wicket.

Ledbury, although dropped in the deep early in his innings, struck some nice shots in scoring 29, as he and Carless (31) put on 53 runs for the second wicket.

Jon Owen was caught at deep mid-on for six trying to go for some quick runs. A few runs later, Dave Daffin (9) lobbed a catch to short mid-wicket with the score on 110-4.

Steve Davies (4), Alan Lancett (7) and Chris Hill (9) also fell cheaply, but George Abbey kept the scoreboard ticking over as he played a vital innings in scoring 25 runs, before he was caught brilliantly at mid-wicket by K Maggs off the left arm bowling of Halfpenny.

Richard Davies (9) and Peter Blake (7no) then shared a last wicket stand of 19 as they took the score to 178 before Richard Davies was caught in the last over of the innings. H Lawson (4-33) and Halfpenny (3-40) were the pick of the Lads Club bowlers.

Chasing 179 to win, Lads Club got off to the worse possible start as S Cardone was superbly caught by Richard Davies at silly mid-on off the bowling of Chris Hill for 0 and lost their second wicket, B Caffelle, caught behind by Gary Fletcher off Jon Owen for nine, with just 10 on the board.

Man of the match Jon Owen struck again with three more wickets in quick succession and Steve Davies finished off the fifth over of his spell with a triple-wicket maiden as Lads Club were 50 all out.

The win for Bosbury by 128 runs gave them 22 points and with one game remaining, the re-arranged fixture against Presteigne away tomorrow (Saturday), a win and at least another 22 points is required if they are to lift the title.
