VISITORS to the Onion Fayre on Saturday, September 13, will be well advised to hang on to their belongings, thanks to a new fairground ride.
The Italian Bungie Ride, one of only six in the UK, catapults people into the air in a cabin attached to 100ft of elastic.
Owner Abie Morris, of Gloucester, said: "The public are always looking for something new. Some rides get dated."
At full stretch, the elastic extends from 100ft to 150ft. The ride can pack down into a 40ft trailer.
Meanwhile, Onion Show organisers are hoping that onion sets donated by Thompson and Morgan have borne, if not fruit, then at least some decent onions.
Onions submitted by local infant and junior school children will be on display in their own special class in the memorial hall.
Onion Show organiser Mike Davies: "We're all looking forward to the results of their efforts."
There will be 18 onion classes in total.
The mightiest onion expected is a 10lb 8.5oz whopper.
