AN inquest into the death of horsewoman Samantha Hudson has been opened and adjourned.
Deputy Cotswold coroner Dr Sophie Burrows opened the inquest on Friday, August 29.
He was told that Miss Hudson, aged 33, of Nethercote, Colwall Green, had died after being crushed by her horse following a fall.
She had been competing at a one-day event at Snowshill, near Broadway, on Bank Holiday Monday and was certified dead at the scene by Dr Eleanor Perks, who was present as a spectator at the riding event.
Dr Victoria Peterson told the hearing that death was due to severe chest injuries caused when Miss Hudson's horse, Nightlight IV, rolled on her when it fell.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
Donations of £714 have been made to Ledbury Pony Club in memory of Miss Hudson.
This does not include money collected at the funeral, held at Castlemorton Church on Monday, the sum of which has not yet been released.
