A BRIDGE in Bromyard is being renamed in honour of a committed town resident.
Church Street bridge will now be known as Bill Morris Bridge after the ceremony today (Friday).
Mr Morris, who died in 2001, was a founder of Bromyard Gala and the town's Christmas light display and ran the last train from Bromyard station, for a day-trip in Blackpool in the 1960s.
Herefordshire Council leader Roger Phillips will conduct the ceremony, along with town mayor Pearl Briggs and Mr Morris' sons David and Clifford. They will help to unveil a stone plaque in honour of Mr Morris on the bridge at 12.30pm. The ceremony is open to the public.
The bridge reopened on Friday, August 29, following a £250,000 of repair work.
The road over the bridge will be closed from 11am to 1.30pm today (Friday).
