AN open-air play about Bromyard's golden era of hop-picking has been hailed as "magical" by organisers.
Gone With the Hops took place on the green beside the Public Hall on Sunday. The free performance attracted hundreds of people from across the Midlands.
"It was more people than we could possibly imagine," said scriptwriter Ann Dolan.
"The weather was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the stage just took off.
"It was just magical. You couldn't have had a more perfect setting."
As well as enjoying the play, set in 1940s Bromyard, the crowds were able to get hold of hops donated by local farmers, visit the Heritage Centre and look at a restored Romany Gypsie caravan.
Brownies collected money at the performance in aid of Acorns Hospice appeal. Details of the sums raised will be released soon.
