THE Dymock Youth Cafe opens for the autumn season on Monday, September 8.

The new venue is the Western Way Chapel, from 8pm.

Organiser Joy Methven said: "We originally opened in the village hall, on Monday, June 2.

"So far, we have met five times on a fortnightly basis, up to the summer break.

"A total of 20 young people have been along to play pool, air hockey, table football, Play-Station games, listen to music and buy sweets and drinks."

However, Mrs Methven said that the upstairs room in the village hall had not been the ideal meeting place.

She explained: "The sloping ceilings cause a few problems with the placing of equip- ment, so that no damage is done by pool cues or heads.

"It can be a real squash and it was also unbear- ably hot for the past few sessions."

The Action for Youth charity looked at hiring both the upstairs room and the main room, but the costs involved ruled this out.

With these considerations in mind, the Youth Cafe gatherings will now take place in the chapel.

Mrs Methven said: "We can meet there weekly and at a fraction of the price."
