The Friends of the Dymock Poets has organised its biggest ever weekend celebration to mark the group's tenth anniversary.

Most of the attractions will take place in the newly converted great barn at the historic manor house of Hellens, Much Marcle, which now operates as a theatre and hall for social gatherings.

The event will feature a walk, readings and drama, plus the chance to meet Robin Hudnut, who is a granddaughter of the great America poet Robert Frost.

She will be flying over from the USA especially for the occasion.

Friends chairman, folklorist and author Roy Palmer, said: "This is the most intensive weekend organised by the Friends of the Dymock Poets.

"I think it's very significant that we have carried on for so long, and so successfully. I have to say that I have only been the chairman for two years and people must be made aware of the hard work put in by my predecessor, Linda Hart, and also the committee members over that long period of years."

The anniversary weekend will kick off on Saturday, October 4, at 10am with a walk around Much Marcle.

The founding father of the Dymock Poets colony, Lascelles Abercrombie, first settled at Monks' Walk Cottage at Much Marcle prior to the First World War.

The AGM will take place at 1.30pm and at 2.15pm the poet and critic Michael Schmidt will give a talk on Robert Frost.

After that, the audience will be able to hear reminiscences of Robert Frost from Mrs Hudnut.

On Sunday, at 11am, poet and professor Sean Street, author of the book The Dymock Poets, will give a talk on The Shadowed Garden - The Dymock Poets and the Idea of Arcadia. This event has received sponsorship from the Autumn in Malvern Festival.

From 3pm to 5pm, there will be a performance of Elected Friends, a reading featuring actress Ann Harvey and two other actors, and focusing on the literary friendship between Robert Frost and Edward Thomas.

At 7.30pm, If I Should Die will feature the English Chamber Theatre in a celebration of the life and works of Rupert Brooke. This event has also received sponsorship from the Autumn in Malvern Festival.
