The A4103 Hereford to Worcester road was closed on Tuesday evening, following a lorry fire the previous night.

Roadblocks were erected on the eastbound carriageway at the bottom of Fromes Hill, at about 4.30pm, and traffic diverted on the A44 through Bromyard while the lorry was towed away.

The roadblocks were still in place at the Fromes Hill end at 6pm.

The vehicle, pulling a trailer carrying wheel hubs, caught fire on the A4103 near Stifford's Bridge at about 10.30pm on Monday. Firefighters had to use foam to put out the flames as metal casing was involved.

Several other incidents occurred on and around the A4103 this week.

On Wednesday (September 3) at 8am, between Fromes Hill and Ridgeway Cross, a collision occurred between two cars, a white Peugeot 405 Estate and a beige Mini Clubman.

Firefighters attended the scene to clear up a fuel spillage and one driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A silver Honda estate hit a tree at Fromes Hill on Monday. The driver sustained chest injuries, which were not serious, but was taken to Worcestershire Royal Infirmary.

At Woodend Farm, Ridgeway Cross a haywain fire kept crews from Bromyard and Malvern occupied all day on Tuesday (September 2).

The fire was reported at 7am and a crew from Bromyard attended. The Malvern crew took over from 6pm to midnight. One thousand bales of hay were ablaze and the fire brigade had to turn them over and wait for the fire to burn out.

"Our job was to relieve the crews from Bromyard and protect the farm buildings nearby," said Sub Officer Saul Bolton from Malvern.
