HEREFORD teenager Adam Wells is riding high after being crowned the British Model Flying Association Sportsman's Aerobatics National Champion.Model aircraft ace Adam Wells with the helicopters which have brought him national recognition in a specialist sport.
The 15-year-old from Hampton Park has been flying model helicopters for about five years and secured the national title at his first-ever competition in Leicester.
The Bishop's School pupil - the youngest competitor in the Sportsman's section - totalled 279 points out of a possible 300 and finished five points ahead of his nearest rival.
Adam impressed the judges at the annual championships with the precision of his drills, which include hovering within a box and a series of loops and rolls.
Adam, a sponsored pilot of models, hones his skills with a group of fliers from Leominster and he will be competing in the Masters section at next year's national championships.
His father, John, said: "The judges always look for total precision and we are very proud of what Adam has achieved in the sport."
