Headington Amateurs 1 Ross Town 2
ROSS made it five games, five wins at the top of Division 1 West of the Hellenic League when they came from behind to snatch a late winner at Headington.
The visitors, showing a number of changes from their 2-1 midweek win at Harrow Hill, made light work of the bumpy pitch and the physical challenges of their opponents to establish an early command.
Their confidence was put to the test, however, when they found themselves in arrears for the first time this season after 36 minutes.
The response was positive and they were level five minutes later, Dean Blenkinsopp heading home for his first goal of the season, after the home team had failed to clear a centre from Dave Skipp.
Ross picked up where they left off after the break. They continued to create chances but, with a mixture of good luck and resolute defending, the home team looked to be on course to dent the Ross record.
Substitute Chris Davies had other ideas and, after a number of efforts had been blocked, he gained possession eight yards out and drove the ball hard and low into the bottom corner of the net.
Jorge Thomas and Stuart Park scored the goals in their previous win at Harrow Hill.
