Pegasus Juniors 1 Hungerford Town 5
ON a day when they needed to be on top of their game against impressive league newcomers, Pegasus produced a below-par performance and suffered a heavy defeat in the Premier Division of the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League at the Leisure Centre.
Hungerford have just joined from the Ryman League and, from the way they capitalised on the home team's errors, will be a force to be reckoned with.
They netted twice in the opening half-hour, Mark Taylor in the home goal being beaten by a speculative shot by Jason Brizzel and then a Shaun Thorpe effort from a corner.
Hungerford's midfield dominated with the result that the home team front men were starved of the ball.
It did not get any better after the break when Darren Howell punished Steve Aubrey for a rare mistake and then Glen Head beat Taylor in a chase for the ball and headed home.
Mark Green netted the fifth.
Pegasus were looking a dejected side but did manage to produce a late consolation.
Neal Hotchkiss took an Adriano Girolami corner on his chest and unleashed a blistering shot into the net.
