EXCITED Eardisland children couldn't wait to try out their new play equipment officially opened at the newly rejuvenated village show, writes SOPHIE BIGNALL.
Two years, £21,000 in grants and villager fund raising has turned a dream into reality for chairperson, parent and resident, Melanie Gittoes.
Thrilled with the new equipment, Mrs Gittoes said: "The village needed something for the kids. There was a real community spirit. It just shows we can all have a vision in life but if you want to do it you can."
"Everybody is so proud of it, we keep popping down there and pulling out the odd weed. We are like kids with a new toy!
"The whole experience has been a wonderful learning facility."
Herefordshire Council leader Roger Phillips was on hand to officially open the play area during the show which has been revived for the first time in many years.
Cookery, horticulture, art and photography as well as handicrafts and a children's section were all part of the fun.
