HEREFORDSHIRE residents who went without electricity in last year's October storms are to receive compensation from the region's power supplier. The worst affected will each collect cash payments of between £25 and £250, depending on how long they went without electricity. Aquila has always maintained these storms were exceptional - lasting 17 hours and reaching hurricane force - and therefore beyond the control of the company. Aquila's Kenton Bradbury said: "Aquila has used the experience to develop several major initiatives that will help the company to maintain more effectively its supply network and further minimise interruptions even during severe weather."
