A GROUP of stalwarts for Ewyas Harold Cricket Club have played throughout the entire 28-year life-cycle of the Hereford Times Hereford and District League.

Robin Michael, Les Dallow and Keith Manning represented the club each season since the Hereford and District League was formed in 1975 and were joined the following year by Phil Brookes.

The four players, aged between 55 and 58, have taken more than 1,000 wickets between them and scored over 20,000 runs in the competition, which is staging its last-ever match on Saturday.

In fact, Robin Michael and Keith Manning have played for the village club for more than 40 years, while Robin's father, Reg, was the club secretary for 80 years.

Les Dallow said: "We have always been a happy, social club, which has stayed together. We have a lot of fond memories from our days in the Hereford and District League and it is a big shame that we have played our last match in the competition."

Harold played their final match in the league last Saturday when they hammered visiting Weobley by eight wickets in a one-sided affair.

Harold won the Division 4 title in 1988, the Division 3 title in 1989, the Division 2 championship in 1994, and were runners-up of Division 1 in 1995, 1996 and 1997.

The Hereford and District League is falling under the umbrella of the Marches League next season.
