JUGGLING, plate spinning, feather balancing - all metaphors for the average Westminster week. So Hereford MP Paul Keetch had plenty in common with the Moon Carrot Entertainment Company he met at the Fourways fun day!
The Moon Carrots were sharing their circus skills with families at the Fourways Children's Centre, part of the Herefordshire Community Centre in Vicarage Road, Hereford, last Friday. It was a time to show the centre as still 'open for business' having got the builders in.
There was a barbecue and bouncy castle, too. One did not - necessarily - have to follow the other.
St James School next door will be home to the centre until April when - if all goes to plan - its Victorian base will have been expanded into the Riverside Community Learning Centre.
The Women's Royal Voluntary Service, long associated with the site, secured funding for this project from the Learning and Skills Council Herefordshire and Worcestershire last year.
Once complete, the new centre will offer opportunities for around 800 people and develop a further 20-30 volunteer 'outreach' posts.
Gill Terry of Fourways said: "We thought the fun day would be a great way to remind people that we (are) still open for business. Plus, we wanted to stress that learning can be fun at any age."
Mr Keetch was one of the guests who got to see for himself.
