A FATHER-OF-SEVEN has been jailed for six months for taking part in a "stupid" hotel burglary.

Terence Fulton and an 18-year-old broke into a bottle store at the Royal Oak hotel in Leominster. They stole beer worth £54 but Police were alerted by the landlady who saw them walking across the car park carrying bottles at midnight .

Police recovered 18 bottles from the teenager's home. He was given 100 hours community work by Hereford magistrates at an earlier hearing.

But Judge Michael Mott said there were good reasons for treating Fulton differently when it came to sentencing.

He had a long record for dishonesty and only pleaded guilty when he was due to face trial.

Building worker Fulton, of Middlemarsh, Leominster, was the sole breadwinner in his family and the carer of one son who was disabled, said Mark Jackson, defending.

Despite a record stretching back to 1985, it was nine years since his last offence of dishonesty.

Mr Jackson added: "This was an act of complete stupidity by two men who had taken too much alcohol."
