Ledbury lost their unbeaten record to local rivals Kington in a fiercely contested game in front of a large Bank Holiday Monday crowd at New Street.
LEDBURY TOWN 0, KINGTON TOWN 1
Former Ledbury keeper Hollingshead had to make two first half saves from Stu Smith and Phil Preedy but, although Kington shaded the first half Ding in the Ledbury goal was never tested.
Ledbury had by far the better of the second half. Robbie Colwell made Hollingshead go full length before the keeper completely mis-kicked a back pass and the ball rolled agonisingly beyond the wrong side of the post.
Kington then stunned the home crowd when Chris King found time to lift the ball up with one foot and volley home with the other from 30 yards. Tempers became frayed as Ledbury picked up the pace and at times it seemed more of a boxing match.
Another Hollingshead bloomer saw his attempted punch rebound off his own post to safety. Then in a pulsating finish Colwell's header was deflected for a corner.
Brave keeping from Hollingshead denied Phil Preedy and an indirect free kick from eight yards out was somehow cleared. In another free for all home substitute Scott Mason was sent off.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury are at Wolverhampton Casuals, kick off 2.45pm, and Ledbury Town Reserves are at home to Chaddesley Corbett, kick off 2.45pm.
