TEENAGE Birmingham City keeper Neil Barnes will step into the shoes of Hereford United's Matt Baker for Tuesday's home Nationwide Conference clash with Forest Green.

Baker serves a one-match ban following his sending off against Nuneaton Borough.

The former Hull City keeper could have been banned for three matches but the offence was considered as a push and not a serious foul.

"It's good news for him because he's been doing very well," said the Bulls' Director of Football, Graham Turner.

Barnes, aged 18, is a member of the Blues' youth academy and arrives on a work experience permit.

Turner is pleased with the move and said he could play more games.

"We've had him watched in the youth team and he comes highly recommended by the Birmingham academy staff," he said.

"He's had a number of reserve team games and we felt he had a bit more experience than Lee Evans who is our other keeper."

Injured keeper Scott Cooksey, who has spent two out of the last three weeks receiving treatment at Lilleshall, is back in light training.

"He's coming on but he might have to go to Lilleshall for one more week and get it sorted out," said Turner.

Meanwhile the Bulls' boss has welcomed the on-loan arrival of Kidder-minster Harriers midfielder, Paul Webb.

"He's had Conference experience and I think he will get better because there's a chance he could play nine games because they're coming thick and fast," said Turner. "He knows all the Conference teams and brings a physical presence to the team.

"The loan move will benefit all concerned. From his point of view he's getting some serious match fitness, he gives us a lift and he'll return to Kidderminster ready to fight for a place."
