Hereford United's Alex Kevan is battling to be fit for Boxing Day's Nationwide Conference clash with Telford, writes Nat Sylvester.

The former Burnley player has four stitches in a foot wound sustained in the 1-1 draw with Nuneaton Borough.

Caretaker manager Phil Robinson has also got injury worries over midfielder John Snape and goalkeeper Matt Baker.

"John's still struggling with a calf injury and so is Matt even though he played against Nuneaton," said Robinson.

Veteran Ian Rodgerson also has a hamstring strain but Robinson was hoping all would be available for selection.

"They are all struggling at the moment but they've not been ruled out yet," he said.

The Bulls' poor financial state means Robinson's options to boost his squad are currently zero but he believes if his side can string a couple of wins together they can propel themselves up the league.

"There is not a lot in it at the moment and a couple of back-to-back wins would move us up the table," he said.

Hereford are seventh from bottom but are just 12 points behind fourth placed Yeovil.

Robinson is hoping his side can bounce back from the late equaliser by Nuneaton which robbed the Bulls over a valuable three points.

"To be ahead for so long after scoring in the early part of the match and then lose a late goal when we thought we had the three points was very disappointing," he added.

"We've not had the rub of the green but if we continue to work and hard and believe in what we are doing then I think we will start picking up points."

The Bulls entertain Stalybridge Celtic who they beat in their third match of the season with a brace from striker Rob Elmes who is joint top scorer with Gavin Williams.
