Next week sees the opening of The Courtyard's autumn show, Guys and Dolls.
Directed by Estelle van Warmelo, this classic Broadway musical promises to be a neon-lit spectacular of smooth talking gamblers and their dames, tough night-club bosses and good-time girls.
A feast of song and dance with intoxicating choreography, the ever-popular Broadway musical also marks the arts centre's fifth birthday and there will be a special gala evening on September 18 to celebrate.
A Courtyard Community Company production, Guys and Dolls features the best of local acting talent working alongside a core cast of professionals choreographed by Val Jones with musical direction by Rab Handleigh.
Caroline Keiff, who has just finished a UK tour of Summer Holiday, stars as Sarah Brown and West End actress Alison Carter takes the role of Miss Adelaide. With credits in the feature films Reign of Fire and The Tailor of Panama, Doug Cockle will relish his role as big shot Sky Masterson and Michael Hobbs stars as hustler Nathan Detroit.
Paul Harper-Swann, currently writing and recording his own album, plays Nicely Nicely Johnson and local favourite David Harding (Mr Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors and Pirelli in Sweeney Todd) returns to The Courtyard main stage as Big Jule.
Guys and Dolls runs from Thursday, September 4 to Saturday 20, with a pay what you like deal on opening night. The show will be interpreted into British Sign Language on September 13 and audio-described on September 18 and 20 at 7.30pm and 2.30pm respectively. To book call 01432 359252.
