In the year to June 30, Chris Whiteley, the Rotary Club of Ross-on-Wye treasurer, reports that the club has made more than £16,000 available to causes within Ross and further afield. The club has completed more than 30 projects. Mock job interviews for leavers at John Kyrle High School and winter and summer events for the elderly underline the club's commitment to Ross people of all ages. 30 children with learning and other difficulties were taken to the West Midland Safari park for Rotary's "Kids Out" day. The early Spring boxing evening raised more than £6,000 and the recent concert at Wyastone Concert hall raised over £3,500 of which 50% is being donated to John Kyrle High School. Past President Raja Stokes recently visited Namatumba in Uganda to see the Mother and Baby clinic funded by Ross Rotary through John Kyrle High School, with additional funding being provided by Rotary International through their "matching grant" scheme. The club, under its new president, Brian Roe, looks forward to another year of similar activities, founded upon "Good Fellowship", the social underpinning of Rotary's "Service Above Self".
