THE Bishop of Hereford, the Rt Rev John Oliver, was entertained by the Ledbury Rotary Club last month at the Feathers Hotel. The Bishop gave a fascinating account of the history and current workings of the House of Lords. His talk was far ranging, covering such topics as the environment and agriculture, including the foot-and-mouth outbreak and the involvement of the Church in that and the controversial Animal Health Bill. He skilfully answered questions on fox hunting, the appointment of the Bishop of Reading and GM crops.
