In the last event in the current programme, members were led by Andre Poppleston on a stimulating walkabout in the city. It included the large-scale redevelopment of the Edgar Street Grid, relating spaces such as the cattle market to what is currently proposed. Considerable comment was generated, in an organisation that now has a revised constitution approved by the Charity Commission, to bring it in line with current circumstances and involving a change of name to Hereford Civic Society. This will be reflect a refreshed approach to all that faces us in the nature of our historic environment, new architecture, urban design and the quality of life to be experienced in the city. A small exhibition is to be held in the Hereford Library at the end of August, to generate even more interest, and gain more members.
