Hereford United are in the mood to take the sting out of Barnet tomorrow, according to manager Graham Turner.

The Bulls travel south to face the Bees (3pm) in great spirits, buoyed by three straight wins that sees them sitting proudly on top of the Nationwide Conference.

Turner has singled out Bees boss Martin Allen for praise but while acknowledging it will be a tough battle, remains confident, especially after in-form striker Steve Guinan survived a late fitness scare over a niggly thigh injury, to be passed fit.

"I was quite impressed with Martin last season, he was a constant source of encouragement from the dugout and they've got a decent team particularly up front with Grazioli and Strevens," said Turner.

"They will be fired up, organised and prepared to work hard, so we will need to impose our character and style on the game but in the mood we are in we can do that."

United could be forgiven for having mixed feelings ahead of the trip to Barnet's Underhill stadium because it was the scene of disappointment last season.

Keeper Matt Baker made a penalty save to deny Wayne Purser but was powerless to stop the Bulls going down to a 2-1 defeat.

The loss came in the midst of a damaging sequence of results that saw them lose six of their last eight matches and scupper their Nationwide Conference play-off hopes.

But Turner insisted that was nowhere near their minds.

"That doesn't come in to it all," he said.

Hereford will be hoping to emerge unscathed from Barnet to face Aldershot Town at Edgar Street on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Hampshire side have also enjoyed a good start to their Conference campaign with a 5-2 win at Telford United.

"The momentum which Aldershot gained from promotion has kept them going," he said.

"Aldershot are a solid side, their front two look very strong and they have got some experienced players so perhaps their start to the season is not such a big surprise.

"We need to be lucky at Barnet in terms of staying clear of injuries because there's no time to strengthen or replace players."
