Colwall entertained Bewdley on a perfect batting track and the toss of the coin, won by the visitors who put Colwall in, was crucial.

COLWALL III v BEWDLEY III

After losing Tom Palmer in the first over, the man in-from Nils Purser, proceeded to carry on from last week by despatching the ball to all parts of the ground. He was ably assisted by Andy Bishop punishing anything off line and length.

As the momentum continued, statisticians reached for the record books as Purser finished on 149no and Andy Bishop 104no putting on a stand of 280 for the second wicket enabling Colwall to declare in the 38th over of their innings.

This left Bewdley 52 overs to overhaul the home side's total.

However, the visitors had other ideas and made no attempt to attack the bowling despite a good start, scoring at only three an over for the first 25 overs.

Colwall tried eight bowlers to turn the game but Bewdley had settled for a draw from the first ball of their innings.

This yet again brings into question the league rules appertaining to drawn games. As in this game the opposition lost only three wickets in 52 overs falling 69 runs short.

Colwall continue their chase for the title with an away fixture at Stourbridge tomorrow (Saturday).
