EVESHAM II v EASTNOR II
EASTNOR seconds travelled to second-in-the-table Evesham with only ten players including two youngsters.
However, they produced a superb performance in one of the most thrilling games of the season to give them their second victory in two games.
Matt Phillips opened the bowling, and claimed his first scalp in the second over. Adi Bradley was at the other end and claimed the wicket of the dangerous Charlton (29) with a good catch from Dave Hughes.
Phillips bowled a mean spell, and it was no shock when he had Shory for a duck, then Horn (16) was well caught by wicket keeper Emlyn Vicarage.
Steve Large then introduced himself into the attack, and carried on the good work. He clean bowled four of the Evesham batsmen for just 17 runs. With Evesham starting to settle, Large brough back Phillips, and he had Hutton (17) first ball, and then claimed his fifth wicket taking Nava's off stump. Phillips had his second five-wicket haul in as many games, finishing with 5-36 off 11. James Febery and Scot Roberts must be mentioned for their feilding contribution.
Eastnor were left chasing just 135 and Dave Jones continued his rich vein of form and hit a superb 33 which formed the backbone of the Eastnor innings.
Large fell cheap, and this brought Jon Peplow to the crease. He hit a quick 14, before being well caught. With Roberts (1), Marc Wildig (11) and Dave Hughes (9) all falling, Eastnor still needed 50 runs f but with only three wickets in hand. Emlyn Vicarage (17no) and Matt Phillips (23no) finally found some form with the bat, and formed a valuable partnership to win the game game by three wickets.
