Westfields 0 Ludlow Town 1
WESTFIELDS were unlucky to finish empty-handed from their second Midland Football Alliance fixture but went down to a soft goal right on half-time on Tuesday.
Following their 3-0 defeat at Oadby Town in their debut in the competition, the reigning West Midland League champions have been forced to start their home campaign at Stourport Swifts while their Moor House facilities are being completed.
Westfields had their first-half chances, while their keeper Jon Pugh was also called upon to make a fine save.
However, he was unable to stop Gareth Horler scoring from three yards when the Ludlow striker was left unmarked at a corner.
Westfields pressed in the second half and were unlucky not to equalise, but Pugh also had to prevent Horler adding a late strike.
l Kington Town, runners-up to Westfields last season, drew 2-2 at home with Wellington in the West Midlands League when they had Alex Hunt sent off for two bookings.
Kington's score came from Mark Davis and an own goal, while Kenny Styles (2) replied.
