Tividale 3 Kington Town 2
KINGTON'S hopes of starting the new West Midlands League Premier Division season with a win were dashed when a couple of defensive howlers gifted victory to Tividale.
The visitors dominated early possession and could well have turned around two goals up with better finishing from Alex Hunt.
First he headed a glorious cross from Hunt straight at the goalkeeper and minutes later dragged his attempted left-foot drive wide after racing clear to pick up a through-ball from Mark Davis
After the interval Kington continued to play enterprising football but when they conceded a free-kick on the edge of the box Tividale converted with a superb shot.
Chris King levelled for Kington with an even better strike from fully 30 yards, but Tividale regained the lead when indecision between sweeper Chris Aspey and goalkeeper Rory Hollings-head over a speculative long ball allowed a home striker to nip in and slide the ball home.
As Kington regrouped, Tividale broke away and Aspey conceded a penalty which was gratefully converted.
Danny Moon volleyed home a Morgan corner to reduce the deficit but Kington's late pressure to grab an equaliser was met by a stubborn home defence.
