MOTORIST Robert Charles Jaye told officers he had drunk only two pints of lager before supplying a breath test three times the legal limit, Hereford Magistrates heard.
Jaye, from Eaton Bishop, who pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, was first spotted by police officers driving a red Ford Escort along Belmont Road in the early hours of July 3.
He was found to have 107 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
In mitigation, Anthony Weston described Jaye, aged 38, as a lonely and friendless man who had been married, with a daughter, until three years ago.
Jaye was disgusted with himself for succumbing to pressure, added Mr Weston, and he was determined to tackle his problems.
Magistrates imposed a community rehabilitation order for 18 months. As part of the order, Jaye was told to complete an educational drink-drivers rehabilitation course and he was banned from driving for 36 months.
