FARM BRIEFING -- And so it was back to Canon Pyon for the briefing at Brick House on tunnels, poly and Spanish. The parish council was well represented, as observers, to garner the general feeling. Discounting the councillors, attendance was less than might have been expected, though the views expressed came across loud and clear from both sides. Helpfully Vivian Powell handed out a short fact sheet- did you know that Herefordshire already leads the whole of Northern Europe in organic soft fruit production; generally farm units are of 'only 50 acres' and more than 50,000 seasonal workers keep the industry going nationwide. The meeting closed with the debate unresolved; time perhaps to find out the long term benefits ,and who bears the costs.
