FUN DAY -- Cross Ash Flower Show and Fun Day started rather overcast but the weather brightened as the crowds arrived and soon everything was in full swing. There was plenty going on to keep the visitors busy and this year there was a display of falcons flying to add to the usual attractions. Tickets for the water shute bottle race sold well and there was a raffle as well. All sorts of side stalls kept busy. One very satisfying stall was the 'Smash the Crockery' stall, no prizes but there was a queue to have a go! A Shetland pony with a small trap gave rides to children, one at a time. He was very patient and seemed to enjoy his afternoon. There was a beer tent, a toss the bale competition, skittles and coconut shy among the other many attractions. In the hall was the usual display of produce with many different classes. There was not as much on display as usual but there was still plenty to see and admire. The vegetable cup this year was won by Dennis Benjamin from Garway and the flower cup by Will Mayo from Cross Ash. It was Wilf's 70th birthday on Show Day and the 44th year that he has exhibited at Cross Ash Show! Mary Thomas won the kitchen baking cup. There were several other challenge cups to be won and all were presented at the end of a successful afternoon.
