Hereford and County AC moved up from joint fourth place to third in the Midland Women's League Division 5 after the Burton-on-Trent meeting last Sunday.

Although Hereford lost two of their most experienced athletes at the last minute, the remaining 11 rallied around to compete in unfamiliar events and earn the team third place on the day and climb the table.

In the senior women's class, both Sarah Fletcher and Ruth Wells had three firsts and a second, while Mary Smith, who is a veteran 50-age group, had a third, two fourths and a fifth. They were backed up by three under-17 women.

Under-15 girls: Leah Preston, 100m third A 14.3, 200m third A 29.7, LJ third A 4.14. Anna Robertson, 100m second B 14.7, SP second A 7.79, JT first B 12.36. Miranda Terry, 800m third A 2.55.6, 75m hurdles third A 16.0, HJ second B 1.15. Olivia Sawyer, 1500m fourth A 5.40.4, SP second B 5.03. Emily Tompkins, 1500m first B 6.14.7, HJ second A 1.25, JT second A 15.44. Anna, Olivia, Emily and Leah ran the 4x100m relay in 62.3.
