Stourport-on-Severn's annual regatta proved to be Hereford Rowing Club's most successful so far with members collecting 14 wins over the two days and finishing as the second top club over the weekend.

Mark Weaver, Alan Weaver, Pat Griffiths and Tom Corbett, coxed by Robin Morris, collected three wins in the men's senior two coxed fours and the senior two eight where they were joined by Adam Gibbs, Paul Watkins and Darren Williams in a composite crew.

The four also made the final of the senior one coxed four where they were beaten on both occasions by another Hereford crew consisting of Les Morris, Jed Greenhouse, Dave Drinkwater and Andy Moxon, coxed by Lucy Edwards, with the sprint event proving to be a much closer race than the longer course event.

Saturday also saw wins for Darren Williams and Paul Watkins, coxed by Zo Morris, in the men's veteran B coxed fours (rowing as a composite with Ross) and Andy Moxon and Christian Jones in the men's elite coxless pairs.

The sprint course saw many Hereford crews excel in their respective events.

Chris Head won the men's novice sculls, with Ali Campbell taking victory in the men's senior three single sculls. The men's senior three quadruple scull of Al Green, Sam Green, Ben Guy and Alex Clark had a much closer race to get a favourable two-foot verdict over their Stourport rivals.

The women's senior two coxed four of Rose Davey, Verity Morris, Sharon Colley and Serena Crump, coxed by Robin Morris, won each of their races with ease, including the final, as did the women's novice four of Rebecca Young, Lucy Edwards, Sarah James and Rebecca Hancock.

The novice four were then joined by Alex Look, Kerri Meredith, Nicki Percy and Hannah Peters and won the women's senior three eights.

Good performances were also given by the women's senior four eight and senior four coxed four as both crews raced through several rounds but were unable to win their respective sprint finals.
