A VIDEO drama of a minibus driver forced to face his prejudices about disabled passengers placed Hereford's schoolchildren in the spotlight.
Pupils from Trinity School and the Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School are enjoying their time in the limelight after producing a film with the Rural Media Company in association with Central TV.
All Aboard is a lively drama that tells the story of a minibus driver who faces his prejudices after he breaks down in the country with a bus full of disabled passengers.
Impressed with the commitment and determination of the young people, Central TV came to Hereford to film the video and to record interviews with each participant about their experience.
The youngsters were then invited to the Central studios to be interviewed by disabled athlete Tanni Grey-Thompson for a special programme on young people and disability.
Based on real life experiences, the video tackles serious issues with a touch of humour and encourages viewers to see disabled people as individuals.
"I only see myself as disabled when others point it out," comments one of the characters in the film.
The bus driver, played by Dave Thomas, is a well-known face in Hereford stage productions who has taught at Trinity School for more than 30 years.
Taking part in all aspects of the production, the young actors were able to work with a professional film crew, headed by award-winning director, Justin Edgar.
"This group showed a level of commitment which most professionals don't have," said Mr Edgar. "Their enthusiasm shone through, even when we were shooting in difficult conditions."
