A FAMILY of swans with no nest to call their own have been moved to a safe haven after being spotted on the roadside.
Joan Howarth, from Hayward Lane, south of Hereford, could not believe it when the two swans with seven cygnets in tow waddled past her kitchen window.
Mrs Howarth managed to get them off the road and into a field where there was a disused pond that they filled up until Swan Rescue South Wales arrived the following morning.
With the help of their son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Louise, they rounded up the family and took them to their new nest on the River Monnow near Ewyas Harold.
Anyone who sees a swan in distress should call Swan Rescue South Wales on 01633 895241.
