FREE-scoring Hereford United will have an early test of their Nationwide Conference credentials tomorrow with the visit of last year's runners-up Morecambe.
Jimmy Harvey's side did the league double over the Bulls last season before they were beaten in the play-off semi-finals.
But after two wins, eight goals and a feast of attractive football, Hereford go into the Edgar Street clash (3pm) brimming with confidence.
Manager Graham Turner, who has summer signing David Brown fit, is keen to pit his team against the Shrimps and judge just how good they are.
"It's not the be all and end all but certainly this is an early measure of how much we have improved," said Turner.
"Morecambe are a tough side, the second best in the league last year and a powerful outfit.
"But we are also in fine fettle. Steve Guinan has a slight knock and we've been nursing him through training a bit but he's no problem and is doing the business in great style."
Hereford's goal-glut has come as a welcome relief to Turner who felt that a lack of firepower cost them a play-off place last season.
"I'm not sure what the secret is this time round other than we are passing the ball around well, displaying some good movement and playing some attractive football."
Rob Purdie has stamped an early claim for a regular starting role in the Bulls' line-up with two man-of-the-match displays including two goals against Forest Green Rovers in the 5-1 midweek victory.
Recent history puts the Shrimps as slight favourites with a Wayne Curtis double sealing a 2-1 victory in the corresponding fixture last year, despite the dismissal of Dave McKearney.
Former Bulls midfielder Harvey, meanwhile, has strengthened his side with the signing of Blackpool midfielder Lee Collins, who was on loan at the Lancashire club last season, and Southport duo Chris Lane (ex-Hereford), and pacy winger Dean Howells.
Collins, suspended for the opening two games, is expected to start in a bid to add some steel to the midfield.
Morecambe won their opening day fixture 2-1 against Woking but slipped to a midweek defeat at Halifax by a solitary goal.
Hereford's home match against Dagenham & Redbridge has been switched for live television coverage.
The game, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 11 will now be played on Monday, October 13 and will be shown live by Sky Sports.
FORMCAST: The Bulls will continue their excellent start to the season with a 3-1 win.
