Households in the Newent, Dymock and Redmarley areas will be first in the second wave of a recycling revolution launched by the Forest of Dean District Council.
On September 1, special green boxes for glass, cans and paper will be collected from the Redmarley and Dymock areas.
On September 2, it will be Newent's turn, when the first of a fortnightly collection will take place in the market town.
The move follows the success of the council's green waste recycling scheme and the release of the first statistics.
In June, 748 tonnes of green waste were collected from wheelie bins filled by Forest of Dean householders.
The council's head of technical services Amir Razvi said: "We are
delighted with the response. It has exceeded all our expectations."
The new box collections, as with the green waste collections, will target 34,000 households in the Forest of Dean area, and the council will be looking for a similarly positive response, with up to 80 per cent of targeted households choosing to opt in.
Government targets call for one third of domestic waste to be recycled by 2005/2006.
