A WEAKENED Canon Frome side travelled to meet an also weakened Wormelow team with both sides looking to consolidate their mid-table position.

WORMELOW v CANON FROME

The home side began well with Waldron and Pedersen scoring freely before both being removed by Andy Rogers and Calvin Cottrell. The dangerous Ian Herbert was dismissed by Nick Panniers and although Wormelow passed the 200 mark, Cottrell managed to claim four wickets with two smart stumpings from Andrew Duddell. Simon Cottrell took three catches as Wormelow closed their innings on 232-8.

Frome began their reply with Rob Mence and Malcolm Rogers before the latter was dismissed in the 11th over for ten. Nick Panniers joined Mence and they edged the total towards the 100 mark before Panniers went for 15.

When Andrew Duddell was caught for 13, Mence found another ally in skipper Andy Rogers who began to increase the tempo. Mence was finally out for 64 (ten fours and a six) and Rogers for 45 (nine fours) leaving Frome with an uphill task which they eventually fell short of by nine runs.

Frome picked up 11 points, which meant they maintained their average for the season with just three weeks left.
