A FORMER Herefordshire woman has won prizes at the Welsh National Eisteddfod - thanks to her mastery of her adopted country's native tongue.
Helen Evans, who was educated at John Kyrle High School, Ross-on-Wye, and lived at Linton, is now based in Pembrokeshire.
In the eisteddfod at Meifod, near Welshpool, she took first place in the adult Welsh learners' solo poetry recitation class and she won the adult Welsh learners' writing competition.
She took a third place in the recitation party of more than 16 voices.
