OPEN GARDENS - On the last weekend of July, the village hall committee organised an open gardens. Eight residents opened their gardens, they ranged from a very new one, a reclaimed one, the very old, large and small, each reflecting their creator's personality. The owners each did extra such as lunches, teas, ice-cream, plants and produce. The village hall catering team served refreshments, sold the entry programmes and draw tickets. In spite of a wet day on the Saturday, proceeds were just over £700 for hall funds.
FUN DAY - Not to be outdone, on the following Saturday, August 2 the village annual fun day took place. In brilliant weather we listened to Tarrington Brass, watched the Punch and Judy show, enjoyed the line dancing, played many games, a barbecue and licensed bar was well used, plus much more. Proceeds for church funds raised £750. The success due to hard work for both these events goes to: Norma Jones, Helen Roberts, Brenda Collins, Anne Turner, Tony Laird, Keith Brackley, Harvey Du Crow, Peter Williams, and to their families, and not forgetting the village hall catering team and all the stall holders, and thank you to all those who turned up.
