IRIE Hill's dream of representing Great Britain in the women's pole vault at the World Championships in Paris is over after her attempt to clear the 4.30 metres qualifying height was hampered by a toe injury.
Ranked number two in the United Kingdom for most of the season, the Hereford-based athlete injured a toe when warming up for a competition in Cardiff.
She pulled out of the Crystal Palace Grand Prix last Friday, and despite intensive treatment, her attempt to qualify for the World Championships at a meeting in Cwmbran over the weekend ended in failure when she aggravated the injury.
She said: "I am obviously disappointed not to be going to Paris but I am happy with the way I have been jumping and I know I have a good chance of jumping high before the end of the season."
