ROGER Moran's hopes of repeating last year's win in the Avon BMTR Top Ten Challenge took a knock when he was sidelined with a broken half-shaft at the start of the second Loton Park qualifier last Sunday.
The Orleton driver took third spot in the morning run-off in a time of 56.45 seconds over the rain-affected 1,475-yards Shropshire course.
But the non-start in the afternoon session left Moran 25 points behind the leader with eight rounds to run.
Dave Wilson, from Luston, took the win in the 2,000cc production sports class in 59.16 seconds and moved up to fifth place in the Clarks Midland Championship.
Leominster's Pete Bishop was third with 59.54.
Stoke Prior driver Jim Bassett was second in the 1,600cc racing car class on 51.13 and John Jones, from Kington, was third in the 2,000cc racing class with 50.15.
The meeting at Shelsley Walsh this Saturday features many local drivers and is a round of the Tran-X British Hill Climb Championship.
