A GREAT lover of Sir Edward Elgar's music and stalwart protector of his heritage in Herefordshire, Jacob O'Callaghan has published a completely revised fourth edition of his booklet on the great man.
Elgar - a Herefordshire Guide has been produced in time for Three Choirs Festival week.
Pride
The booklet, which contains many illustrations, aims to guide the visitor to many of the spots in Herefordshire associated with the composer's music and life.
Said Jacob: "Elgar famously said that he only took the music from the air around him. The fact that the air was so often Herefordshire's, and that he so often resided here, in imagination as well as literally, should make Herefordians take as much pride in these associations as our neighbours rightly do.
"Worcester-born and bred, Elgar was by descent and, during his most creative period, by residence, a Herefordshire man."
The booklet, which contains a map of the Herefordshire Elgar trail, sells for £4.90.
